Summary
The Castello di Passirano it is one of the best preserved of Franciacorta.
Its origin goes back to the high middle ages: the first monastic seat, and then a fortified structure, and properties of the aristocratic and agricultural.
Square in shape, with towers at the corners and an inner courtyard, keeps intact the trenches and part of the walls.
Today is a private residencenot open to the public, but visible from the road that borders the town.
Who goes biking can see it between the trees, with the same astonishment of those who will come across a presence out of time.

From the car park to the Castle
Via Bechelet in Passirano, in front of the city cemetery, is a large, free car park, easily accessible and perfect as a starting point. From here, we started our journey in the direction of Monterotondo, cycling along the bike path that runs along the roadway. The stretch has a slight slope, which is ideal to warm up the legs.
After about a mile and a half, at the foot of Monte San Giorgio, in correspondence of the beginning of the climb, we took a left onto via Micanzio. This secondary road has accompanied us up to via XX Settembre, where we turned to the right. The stretch is part of the Bike Culturethe itinerary that combines Brescia and Bergamo in the sign of the landscape and heritage.
Via XX Settembre is flanked by fields and vineyards ordered. The surrounding environment begins to unravel the rural character and harmonious in the area. After a short ride, we reach a junction with Castle street, where we turn left. At this point, the path has a curve to the left, and the edges of the road we see two tall hedges. After a few rides, the profile embattled of the Castello di Passirano suddenly appears among the branches. The road follows the ancient fortification is a part of history, which returns the full feeling of riding a bike in history. From here, the path can continue with new discoveries, but this stage is already a perfect blend of nature, culture and beauty.

The Castle of Passirano it is one of the best kept fortified Franciacorta.
Its origins date back to the IX century, the period when the territory was influenced by the presence of the monks of cluny. Over the centuries, the castle has changed the face and function: by the presidium, defensive court farm, to become the residence.
The plant has a quadrangular shape, with towers at the corners, walkways and covered a large central courtyard. Its simple architectural design, and solid tells us the passage of the ages, while maintaining a harmonious balance with the surrounding landscape. Today the castle is privately owned, but it remains well visible from the road.
It offers to the gaze of the passers-by as a fragment of time is suspended, silent but eloquent.
It can be crossed with your eyes, with respect, as you do with some old stories: that they are not asking to be crossed, but just observe — and remember.
