The Great Ring? A big question mark!

Cycling Experiences

The experience

As anticipated in the review of the Small Loop, which I immediately proposed to rename “the Classic”, I also tried theLarge Loop. However, contrary to what was planned, I decided not to tell you about the itinerary in detail. The reason is simple: the strong sense of disappointment experienced during the test.
The Large Loop is part, together with the Small Loop, of Franciacorta Cycling – Amphitheater on Lake Iseo, a cycle tourism project promoted by the association of municipalities Terra della Franciacorta thanks to funding from the Lombardy Region.
After cycling for almost 86 km along the Large Loop, a big question arose in me: what evaluations and what checks did Terra della Franciacorta conduct before publishing the itinerary on visitfranciacorta.info?

Personally, I found several significant critical issues.

  • Absence of signage.

What did I appreciate about this route? I appreciate Franciacorta and its extraordinary landscape. And it is precisely for this reason that the test disappointed me so much. Faced with a significant investment, also in terms of communication, I believe that to date this route does not enhance the territory, but rather represents an an obstacle to the serene enjoyment of what surrounds us. I hope that the future holds positive changes for us and that the route will be revised with appropriate adjustments.

After over 70 km of cycling, here's the surprise in Concesio: route blocked by a construction site and road completely barred. And now, where do we go?

Lack of signage and changes in road layout can put the cycling tourist in uncomfortable situations. Here we are in Concesio. What's the point of passing through here?
